Herestra is Kira's mentor.
The Healer's Legacy
While traveling with Kira and her escorts, Dagger and Rasten, at the start of the story, Herestra introduces Kira to the truth of her mother's lineage as she is dying. She gives Kira her mother's medallion and tells her to flee from Toril to her mother's people across the Faersent Sea. Her final act was to prepare immolation oil that Kira would light so Kira could escape from Dagger and Rasten.
